If you haven’t tried Tropical Avocados, you are in for a treat. To my family, the Tropical Avocado has always been known as an Aguacate, pronounced (ah-gwa-kah-tee). This variety is a staple food in the Caribbean and Latin America where it’s been the most popular variety for generations. Tropical Avocados are also known as green skin avocados because of their shiny and gorgeous shade of green. They are a source of good fats, are hearty, yummy, and are full of nutrients. How do Tropical Avocados taste like? When it comes to taste, they are pretty similar to the Haas avocado although slightly sweeter. They are creamy, luscious, and delicious. They spread very easily and have a buttery and creamy smooth texture. They have a light yellow and green color inside, and the seed can be brittle but that’s OK. The reality is that they are very similar to the avocados you are used to. How are Tropical Avocados better? Larger in size: The first thing you’ll notice is that they are humongous compared to the varieties you can buy at the supermarket. Each Tropical Avocado is about the equivalent of 4 Haas avocados. You can prep just one and feed your whole family. Longer cut life: One of my pet peeves with those other avocados is that they turn black and the flavor changes right away, in the industry they call that oxidizing. The Tropical Avocados oxidize much slower which means that you can cut them and leave them out for longer. You can even keep one in the fridge wrapped in foil for two to three days after you cut them. How do you know when they are ripe? These avocados are ripe while the skin is still green, which is a little confusing if you are not used to them. Luckily, there is a simple way to know when they are ready. How? When you squeeze them and they give in just a little, they are ready to eat. Where are they from? These avocados are grown in the tropics on a beautiful farm in the Dominican Republic and in the off season over there, they come from beautiful and sunny Florida, where we are based. They grow with plenty of natural rain in nutrient-rich soil. They are naturally large, non-GMO and delicious. Our Large Box comes with about 6 to 8 Large Tropical Avocados. You won’t believe what fell into our lap! A small batch of local black sapote, also called black soap apple, the sumptuous chocolate pudding fruit that our Tropifruiters have been clamoring for. This is just the type of fruit that you get to brag about on your Instagram or YouTube channel. It’s that wow of an experience. It’s a close cousin of the persimmon and has an amazing flavor profile. Red bananas are in! Aren’t you tired of traditional bananas? Well… do we have a contender for you. The beautiful and not boring Red Banana. No, this banana is not angry or blushing, it’s just doing its thing, waiting to be devoured by you! What makes them different? They have a red purplish colored exterior, their flesh color is a little bit darker with an orangish color and they are slightly plumper. Other than that, if you have a sweet tooth, you’ll love them because they are sweeter than their yellow cousins. They are also denser and juicier so we could say that they are more satisfying. Sweet, creamy but not overwhelming. Some say they are like eating a banana soufflé. When do you know they are ripe? The universal banana ripeness indicator is firmness. When they start getting softer and their color lightens, they are good to go. You can definitely eat them by themselves, use them in desserts, and they also make awesome smoothie companions since you can mix them with pretty much anything healthy and they will make it taste better. One of the most coveted varieties of mango, the Francis or Francine is now available from Ecuador. This mango is sweet, fruity, bold and a little spicy which will take you all the way back to 2019, when the world was still normal. Handpicked in the fertile soil of Ecuador, this mango has a bright yellow skin with green overtones. Its oblong S shape makes it look very feminine and it has very easy to peel skin and stringy texture. As it ripens, the green color starts to dim and the yellow turns into a golden color. This mango grows only in small batch farms in Haiti in the summer and currently Ecuador in winter/spring.  

In Greece, they are called the divine fruit, it’s the national fruit of Japan and in the U.S. this variety is about 80% of the market. We don’t know what you guys think but the Fuyu Persimmon has something going for it. Their taste is a mixture of a rich, honey-like mild flavor that’s like nothing you’ve ever had before, unless of course… you’ve eaten persimmons :) They have fiber and vitamins that we are not going to mention because Facebook keeps blocking our listings saying that we are selling medical devices so, there...have you heard the phrase food as medicine?
